Collection is primarily World War II era correspondence containing postcards, letters, and V-mail sent by Roy Samuel Ingle to his fiancee, and later wife, Lois Blanche Eller and his parents. Topics of correspondence includes: army routine; Lois' pregnancy and the birth of their daughter; descriptions of Sicily; the progress of the war in Italy; evacuation of prisoner of war camps; outrage over the attack on Pearl Harbor; economic inequities in North African society; the murder rate in the Casbah; Algiers; visiting a "Moslem church;" the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius; attempts to get a war deferment; his travels in the United States, North Africa, Iceland, England, and Paris during World War II; progress on Douglas Dam when working for the T. V. A.; and finances. Includes pilot training log books, receipts and photographs (1939-1946).
